The Educational Program - Career Skills
Supplementing Artistic Talent with Business Skills
One of the most unique and important of IcExcellence's activities is the educational program, entitled
"The Artist as Entrepreneur."

This initiative has proved to be a significant addition to the chosen artists' individual tailor-made artistic programs.

IcExcellence realized that many excellent artists are not able to fulfill their great artistic potential due to lack of basic knowledge and understanding of various aspects of the "business side of art." Accordingly, IcExcellence initiated and designed a unique educational empowerment program of career skills, comprised of group seminars and meetings with leading professionals.

Following the great success of the first seminar in June 2003, and encouraged by the artists' enthusiastic responses, we decided to broaden this aspect of our activities. Today, IcExcellence holds several annual events, focused on the different aspects and requirements for a successful artistic career, including lectures and workshops on strategic thinking, media presentation, intellectual property and copyright issues, cultural differences, business management and more.

"Most of my excitement stems from meeting the good people that were there. The opportunity to get a glimpse of their creative world, to see how they think, work and dream, quenched a great, perhaps subconscious, thirst of mine, and once again reminded me how important it is to interact with other artists."
Shlomi Shaban

Another important benefit of these seminars is the contacts established between the participants - excellent artists from different fields of art. This powerful networking, which has already resulted in several multidisciplinary artistic projects, may open many more wonderful doors for them in the future.

Our Artists' Testimonials

"Kudos on the idea and its implementation. I arrived without any expectations, and came away enriched with thoughts and fascinating new acquaintances, as well as the understanding that people with a vision stand behind the Foundation, people who wish to get to know the artists they support, to learn how to assist them and build a ‘community of artists.'"
Yaron Gottfried

"The direct contact with so many essential questions that are asked so seldom, and the ability to break them down into conceptual and practical models, struck me at the ideal time
and place."

Shlomi Shaban

"An original, commendable enterprise. Thanks!"
Itay Tiran

"What's most important to me is knowing that I can turn to the Foundation with questions and for advice, connections and actually every realm related to my career."
Avishai Cohen

"I feel like this is a unique one-time opportunity I've been given to truly examine questions about my way of handling things, and to try to rearrange all the career issues I carry around with me every day."
Yasmeen Godder

"The experience was great. The seminar was a rare opportunity to meet and get to know both other artists and people in the foundation, and it had great learning value. Since the professional committee first contacted me a year ago, I had the feeling that I've already gained from the process itself, and the seminar was another tremendous benefit along the way."
Tal Gur

"These two days were EXTREMELY helpful for me, and I do think that participating in the seminar is a must for the chosen artists. It was a pleasure to spend these two days with other artists, and it was really pleasing to see their will to collaborate, share and support each other and talk openly. I just wanted to thank all of you and to say that I'm really glad to be part of all this."
Zoya

"The seminar really helped me in applying abstract principles to specific, concrete thinking, and also in reflecting my current courses of action."
Gal Weinstein

"Meeting other artists was extraordinary. Besides the great interest and the cooperative efforts that I hope will come out of it, the group actually functioned like a kind of support group. I think all the sharing and stories about ways of coping with similar problems is very helpful. Another aspect of the same matter is the development of  "team pride."

Getting to know the people strengthened my sense of pride, on one hand, and commitment, on the other hand, in belonging to this elite group'" .

The workshop was interesting and even led me to reaffirm or reconsider some recent choices I've made... The most meaningful part was meeting other artists...for me that was the crowning jewel and an experience no less than thrilling.
Rutu Modan

The strongest and most convincing thing at the seminar, besides the cheesecake on Thursday morning, was when which each of us announced who he is and what he does. Suddenly it really became clear to me. I heard everyone's heart say, 'Wow, this really is the best there is.' At that moment a strong energy of proven excellence started flowing through the room.

I suddenly found myself in love with something that just the idea of it could have shaken me with the fragments of my own reflections that were there in the room with me and being uttered by the other artists. Meeting others suddenly arouses within me an urge and passion to create... Something about the presence of so
many people and creative forces generated some kind of energy that makes me excited and curious.
