"I have no doubt that 'Breathing Down to Zero' is the best Hebrew album of the year….the debut album of an outstanding Israeli artist who is talented, smart and beautiful all at the same time. It's a great pleasure to welcome her as the most prominent representative of the next generation in local rock."

By the young age of 18, Rona Kenan was already heralded as a "discovery," with promising talent as a musician, singer and songwriter. Upon the release of her first album eight years later, the rumors were proven true. Interesting and mature, she is indeed a cutting edge artist and performer who chooses to build her career step by step, slowly but surely.

Rona graduated from the theater program at Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts, but was drawn to the guitar and to music from early on. Her first public appearance attracted much attention, when she performed two original songs for Eran Tzur's program and album in memory of the poetess Yona Wollach. Since then, she has composed for and performed in numerous and varied projects, such as an evening commemorating Inbal Perlmutter, a young poets' event, an evening of Leah Goldberg's poetry, a joint concert and album with Tal Gordon, an Ehud Banai video, an Eran Tzur album, and others.

In 2003, Rona began appearing with her trio in Tel Aviv, along with the multi-instrumentalist Adam Scheflan, and drummer Omri Hanegbi. The following year, she released her long-anticipated debut album, "Breathing Down to Zero," produced by leading Israeli producer Izhar Ashdot, with 11 original tracks in both Hebrew and English, a cover version of a Yaakov Orland song, and an instrumental piece entitled "Thirst and Hunger." Guest artists on the album include Shlomi Shaban, Barry Sacharov, Shem-Tov Levi, and Moshe Levi. The album was warmly received by fans and critics alike, and Rona has embarked on a concert tour
throughout Israel.

Rona is currently playing guitar and singing in the new show by Gidi Gov, one of Israel's leading performing artists. She has also written the music for a number of Israeli films and television series, such as "The Cemetary Club", a documentary film directed by Tali Shemesh.

In February 2007, Rona released her second album: "Through Foreign Eyes". The disk presents ten songs, all composed and written by her, including the instantly popular duet with singer Gidi Gov, "Strange Dance of the Heart."

Rona Kenan was chosen by the distinguished members of IcExcellence Advisory Board for Israeli Music: Yoav Kutner, Danny Sanderson, and Margalit Zanani.

"Through Foreign Eyes, Rona Kenan's second album, is so beautiful it virtually shouts, in her reserved manner, "Here, I've arrived." This is not just another station along the way to the exclusive club of female artists such as Yehudit Ravitz and Korin Allal. This is the stop that delivers her straight into the club."
Ben Shalev, Haaretz, Mar. 11, 2007

"...Kenan is continuing to establish herself as an artist who performs her art while radiating quiet wisdom and purity. Her voice, over which she has absolute control, combines analytical coolness with emotional warmth and, despite being clear and straightforward it retains a kind of mysteriousness."
Timora Lesinger, Ynet, 2007

"'Breathing Down to Zero' is without a doubt the best female rock album to have come out here in many years, and one of the best in general. Kenan displays an impressive array of qualities in every respect, wonderful…each time, listening to the album only reveals another furrow, another dimension, exposing true complexity and offering a long, meaningful relationship....She's a fantastic composer....She sings beautifully…really a great album. Such impressive debut albums in all the years of Israeli rock could be counted on one hand. Halleluiah."
Avi Efrati

"A beautiful, personal, diverse and unusual rock album, with respect to both the music and the lyrics. A disk that's simply hard to take out of your CD player….This is possibly one of the finest debut albums ever to be released in Israel."
Time Out, Tel Aviv, Sept. 2004

"It was a flowing, well-done performance that knew how to stick to [Kenan's] inner voice and not let go."
Gidi Avivi, Haaretz, 2004

"She always manages to do the right thing, and in her own time. She's not rushing anywhere. She gives it her all, wholly and composed, up to the end…an intelligent, sensitive musical sequence, caressing and penetrating, rare in its beauty and the honesty it offers, and especially in the professionalism it reveals."
Ido Solomon, Hed Hakrayot, Apr. 2005
