Nir Bergman, a native of Haifa, grew up in both Haifa and the Ein Hod Artists' Village. He is a graduate of the Sam Speigel Film and Television School in Jerusalem. His graduation project, a short film entitled Sea Horses, immediately aroused great interest and invitations to numerous international film festivals.
In 2004 , as part of the Sam Spiegal School's 15th anniversary, the film was chosen as the best film ever made in the school by a prestigious international jury including Pedro Almodovar, Paul Newman and Kirk Douglas.

Nir's first feature film, Broken Wings, released in 2002, won nine Israeli Academy Awards, three prizes in the Berlin Festival and the Grand Prix at the Tokyo Festival. Nir has also been involved in several successful TV series as writer and co-producer: Catching the Sky in 2000, Jerusalem Mix in 2003, and In Treatment in 2005. In Treatment, one of the most highly acclaimed series ever to appear on Israeli TV, was bought by HBO for an American version.

Nir Bergman was chosen by the distinguished members of IcExcellence Advisory Board for Film & TV: Ram Loevy and Dan Wolman.
