Avishay Hadari was born in Tiberias by the Sea of Galilee in 1976. He graduated from the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts in 1994. In 1997, he studied for a year at the School of Visual Theater in Jerusalem, where he became acquainted with Tadeusz Kantor's Cricot 2 Theater, prompting his eventual decision to study in Poland.
In 1998, his play "Rust" won four awards at The Acco Festival of Avant-Garde Theater, and was later performed in Tel Aviv at Habima - The Israeli National Theater, and at The Center for the Performing Arts.
From 1999-2004, Hadari studied theater direction in Cracow, Poland, at PWST Academy, which accepts only three to seven students each year. The studies integrate theoretical lectures with practical experience gained by working with professional actors and directors such as Andrzej Wajda, Krystian Lupa, Mikolaj Grabowski, Jerzy Trella, Kszysztof Globisz and many others. He graduated from the school with perfect marks. For his final project he translated into Polish and directed the traditional play of "Hadibuk" (pictures at right).
