Visual
Communication
"After his graduation with distinction I had the pleasure to work with him for more than 2 years. During this period Adi showed his serious and responsible approach to Graphic Design and his highly skilled talent towards typography. I have been following his work as a free-lance designer, where he led a high quality innovative group of young designers. I had also the opportunity to follow his activity as a tutor at the Bezalel academy, his devotion and enthusiastic involvement in the department were highly appreciated and recognized. I believe that Adi will continue to be an influential figure in the Israeli culture scene, as a designer and educator."
David Tartakover, Graphic Designer, AGI, Israel Prize Laureate for Design

Typography and Hebrew Fonts
Hebrew is utterly unique amongst the world's languages. It is one of the most ancient languages known in human history. Yet, for hundreds of years it was used almost exclusively in Holy Scripture and religious ceremonies. Its phenomenal renewal in modern times is only one hundred years old.

This exciting and exceptional process of rebirth naturally has created different challenges; some of which still need to be addressed. One important issue is the notable shortage of quality Hebrew fonts, a need much evident in modern daily life when we are continuously surrounded by graphics in the media, books, advertisements, computers, etc. Although many new fonts were designed throughout the 20th century, primarily after the digital revolution, much more development is still required. Mainly lacking are good text typefaces meant for setting books and newspapers.

Adi Stern was chosen by the distinguished members of IcExcellence Advisory Board for Visual Communication: David Tartakover and Merav Salomon.
